Dilnazar Osman was born in Urumqi, Xinjiang. From 2014 to 2018, she studied oil painting at the Xinjiang Arts Institute, earning her bachelor’s degree; between 2016 and 2018 she attended the Central Academy of Fine Arts as a visiting student. From 2019 to 2022, she completed her master’s degree at the Second Studio of the Oil Painting Department at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, under the supervision of Professor Kang Lei.

 

Dilnazar’s practice examines the relationship between the individual and culture, and how customs and everyday life are transformed through visual language. She often works with a restrained and pared-down approach, maintaining measured narratives and a cool chromatic structure. In this way, intimacy, memory, and social experience are not directly represented, but rather suggested and refracted through the tension of form and composition. Her works extend from regional experience while engaging with reflections on cultural identity and gender consciousness, situating her imagery between private feeling and public discourse.

 

Dilnazar’s works are held in the collection of the Chinese Museum of Nationalities in Beijing, and she has participated in numerous exhibitions in China, including ASA-XYZ (2018, Beijing), Youth Artist Award Nomination Exhibition (Fangcaodi Gallery, 2019, Beijing), Nice to Meet You, See You Again (Yue Art Museum, 2022, Beijing), The Fifth Huajiadi Biennale – People’s Supermarket (Park Art Space, 2024, Beijing), and Rooted and Flowing (Gaotai Gallery, 2025, Urumqi).
