Gaotai Gallery was founded in 2019 and is located in Urumqi, Xinjiang, China. As the first and only contemporary art institution with an international vision in the region, Gaotai is more than an exhibition space; it is a site of cultural generation. We focus on identity, geopolitics, ecology, and the contemporary reinterpretation of traditional culture. Through exhibitions, public education, international residencies and interdisciplinary collaborations, we seek to establish a new artistic reference point in the heartland of the Silk Road.
