Gaotai Art Store

Founded by Gaotai Gallery in 2020, Gaotai Art Store is an art retail platform rooted in the cultural landscape of Xinjiang, bringing together contemporary art, design, traditional craftsmanship, and everyday life. Through a contemporary design language, it reinterprets local cultural references and brings them beyond exhibitions and research into more accessible, everyday contexts.

Gaotai Art Store has collaborated with more than 50 artists, designers, and craftspeople, developing over 300 products across original design, artist editions, traditional textiles, ceramics, fragrance, and homeware. Alongside these collaborations, the store develops its own collections inspired by Xinjiang’s architecture, patterns, colours, urban life, and everyday experiences, transforming locally rooted references into new visual and material forms.

Today, Gaotai Art Store operates seven physical locations across Urumqi, Kashgar, and other cities. As part of Gaotai Gallery’s broader cultural practice, it continues to explore the space between art and everyday life, tradition and the contemporary, creating new ways for the culture and creativity of Xinjiang to be seen, experienced, and shared.
